The winter range for many of the elk in my area is the lower, semi aired regions of northwest Colorado. The cows and bulls generally segregate by sex. Only a few younger bulls seem to be allowed to hang with the larger herds of cows and calves. The bulls generally herd up in small bunches or maybe up to as many ten or more individuals.
